How can we help?
Start with the questions below — they cover what people ask most about Mujmal. If your answer isn't there, write to us directly; we read every message.
Report an issue
To help us resolve it quickly, send us the following:
- Your iPhone model, iOS version, and Mujmal version (found in the app's settings).
- The steps that led to the problem, in order, and what you expected to happen instead.
- A screenshot if it clarifies the problem — and please hide any sensitive figures the diagnosis does not need.
Never send us passwords, banking credentials, or account numbers. Mujmal does not need them and will never ask for them.
Your first steps in Mujmal
Where do I start after installing?
Mujmal starts with a short setup where you choose your display currency, then you add your first cash account and your most important commitment or recurring income. You do not need to enter everything on day one — the picture builds gradually.
How do I add an asset that is not in the built-in list?
You can create your own custom category, and it appears exactly as you named it in lists and allocation views, with no automatic renaming.
Do I enter the full value of a jointly owned asset?
Enter only your own share. Mujmal shows your personal financial picture, and entering the full value of a shared asset would inflate your net worth.
Questions about numbers and movements
Why doesn't my rolling commitment show all its instalments at once?
An open-ended recurring commitment shows only its current occurrence; the next one appears after you complete the current one. A fixed-term financing plan, by contrast, shows all its remaining instalments because they are contractually known.
I entered a new balance for my account — why did an “adjustment” appear?
Because Mujmal never silently erases your history. Any difference between the computed balance and the balance you entered is recorded as an explicit adjustment, so every number stays explainable later.
I paid a commitment with a credit card — how does Mujmal treat that?
The paid liability decreases and the card's used balance increases. That is a reallocation of debt, not a cash settlement, so your cash balance does not change.
My card balance exceeded its credit limit. Is that an error?
No. The limit and the used balance are independent facts. The app records the real state with a non-blocking warning, and never raises your limit automatically to make things look valid.
Why did my net worth change without me adding or spending anything?
Usually a revaluation or a currency effect. Open the change analysis to see the movement separated into additions, value movement, cash flows, liabilities, and FX effect.
Where your data lives and how you control it
Where is my data stored?
On your device. If you enable iCloud sync in the app, it runs through your own Apple Account and your device settings. There is no Mujmal-owned server storing your numbers.
Do my numbers appear in notifications?
No. Reminders tell you about the date or the action needed without showing your financial values or asset names on the lock screen.
How do I permanently delete my data?
The app includes tools to manage and erase your data. If you use iCloud, synchronized copies may also need to be managed from your device's iCloud settings.
Can I create a backup?
Yes. The app provides backup and restore tools, plus a data-health check that helps you confirm your financial records remain consistent.
The Zakat centre
How does Mujmal calculate Zakat?
The calculation is based on the assets and liabilities you include in the Zakat centre, following the rules implemented in your app version. Each annual review is preserved as its own record along with the rates used at that time.
Is the Zakat result a religious ruling?
No. Mujmal's Zakat tools assist with organisation and calculation from your own data. They are not a religious ruling and not a substitute for consulting a qualified authority when needed.
Mujmal is a personal organisation and interpretation tool. It does not provide financial, investment, or tax advice and is not a substitute for independent verification where a decision carries significant consequences. See the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
